This week an interview with Mr Harris has been published by The London plastic surgery Clinic based on his current practice and how this links to one of the founders of Plastic Surgery at the hospital.
Mr Harris explains that in 1932, the “father of plastic surgery”, Sir Harold Gillies, set up the world’s first private plastic surgery unit at The London Clinic. Famed for his work supporting soldiers who had sustained injuries in the First and Second World Wars, Sir Gillies, a former ear, nose and throat surgeon, pioneered a new field of reconstructive surgery with patient welfare at its core. The plastic surgery provision at the hospital is now led by SPS members to provide a high quality and very specialised service.
